March is National Nutrition Month! Healthy eating is one of the most important things you can do for your body. A healthy diet and lifestyle are your best weapons in the fight against heart disease. This is a great opportunity to evaluate the nutrition you take in on a daily basis.

Most people know they should eat healthy but we should also re-think our drinks and hydrate healthy. On average Americans consume more than 200 calories a day in sugary beverages. Sugary sweetened beverages such as soft drinks, sports drinks, and energy drinks make up the majority of added sugars in the average American diet! Consuming too many added sugars is directly linked to developing obesity and heart disease.

It is vitally important to your health to limit the consumption of added sugars particularly in our beverages. It is especially important for our kids who currently consume about ten times their recommended amount of sugary beverages. This is why we support policies like healthier beverage choices on kids' meals and healthy vending options in public places. This National Nutrition month consider re-thinking your drink and switch to healthier options like water.
