I was lucky to have my work insurance pay for all my medical needs. I was able to work with my doctors and nutritionist to figure out a plan that worked for me. I was able to lower my blood pressure so much that I did not need to take any medication, but it took some time to figure out what was best for me, the patient.
Many women, especially those who are struggling financially, are not as fortunate. In several states across the country, state Medicaid only covers 30 to 90 days (about 3 months) of health coverage after giving birth. This leaves a lot of women without coverage when it is the most critical. This is where we want to help new moms protect their heart health. In many states, we have introduced bills to the legislature to expand coverage to a full year. West Virginia has already passed this legislation extending the coverage to 12 months for all recipients!
We will need your help to get this legislation over the finish line. If you would like to learn more and/or help, please click here to sign up.
