An Afternoon at the Governor’s Mansion

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon on Thursday, May 10th, when the American Heart Association hosted our legislative reception at the Colorado Governor’s Mansion. This annual event is used to celebrate high-level donors and advocacy committee members by providing a unique experience and an opportunity for increased interaction with their lawmakers.

Our Denver market board member, Jim Fullerton, emceed the event, applauded our legislative successes, and recognized our volunteers and donors for their service. Senator Beth Martinez Humenik, Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, served as the keynote speaker highlighting the work the legislature did to promote and protect the health of all Coloradoans. Survivor Dr. Dale Teresaki shared his story about his undergoing heart surgery as a Medicaid beneficiary and about being a doctor serving Medicaid patients. Overall, the speakers emphasized the need for the American Heart Association and importance of the work we accomplish with the help of volunteers. It was successful event with over forty attendees including Representatives Reyher and Catlin.
