The East Baton Rouge Metro Council is expected to vote on June 28 to ensure all bars and casinos in the parish have smoke-free air.
Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States. It causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases (such as emphysema), and diabetes. Local smoke free ordinances protect public health by reducing exposure to secondhand smoke and encourage smokers to quit.
No one should have to choose between their health and a paycheck. A smoke-free law that covers all workplaces is the best bet for East Baton Rouge parish.
A special thank you to our You're the Cure advocates and seven co-sponsors of this ordinance for their support!
