Kansas Advocacy Updates

I hope you, your family, and friends are doing well. I wanted to let you know the American Heart Association is deeply concerned about the public health crisis facing our country. Our top priority regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) is the health and well-being of individuals and their families today and in the future, in every community, everywhere.

Millions of people are counting on us for science-based information, health resources, community programs and patient support. We are continuing our mission-critical work in these challenging times and we know that people with cardiovascular diseases are more likely to be seriously impacted by the virus than others.

With that in mind I wanted to give you some updates on where we are and where we are going in Kansas with our critical advocacy work.

The Legislature is scheduled to return on April 27th, but that is subject to change.

We are continuing to work with lawmakers to pass KanCare Expansion, comprehensive tobacco control legislation, and prevent short-term health insurance plans that don't adequately protect families with pre-existing conditions.

I know this is a trying time for all of us. I want to encourage you to visit heart.org for resources we have to help you at this time. We will be in touch when we have more news to share. Thank you for your support!

In the meantime please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
