This year, volunteer voices supporting heart-health are more important than ever! The 2018 legislative session is a short one – lasting just 60 days – which means we have a very limited period of time to connect with lawmakers. Our annual American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Washington Heart at the Capitol day is Monday February 12, and we would like to invite you to RSVP today!

Heart at the Capitol is a great opportunity for volunteers like you to meet with your lawmakers to discuss issues that will help build a healthier Washington.
At this year’s event our key issue to discuss with decisionmakers is:
Tobacco Control – Tobacco use is still the number one preventable cause of death in our state. Research has shown that raising the minimum legal age to purchase tobacco to 21 may dramatically reduce the number of smokers in our state. We will ask lawmakers to support legislation that raises the tobacco purchase age to 21.
Prior legislative volunteering experience is not necessary as we will provide training the day of the event. If you would like to attend but need help getting to the Capitol let me know as I can help arrange carpooling. RSVP Today!
If you have any questions about the day please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
