This year, in light of the COVID-19 crisis and our commitment to your health and safety, we are changing our annual lobby day to a virtual week of advocacy!
Between May 26th-29th we'll be offering a variety of advocacy opportunities you can take part in and join our fight for longer, healthier lives.
We will focus on securing necessary public health funding and increasing taxes on tobacco products. With the connections to heart health and COVID-19 becoming clearer, ensuring funds dedicated to preventing hypertension and unhealthy weight is increasingly important. We will also continue our fight to reduce tobacco use and nicotine addiction by advocating for an increase in the tobacco tax. With youth being so vulnerable to price, we have the chance to keep kids from picking up an addiction. Advocates around the New York Metropolitan Area will additionally be contacting their local legislators to discuss the need for SNAP funding to secure healthy food for those most in need during the pandemic.
