Do you know how many current lawmakers in the Michigan House of Representatives were in office when the smokefree air law (Public Act 188 of 2009) was passed?   ZERO.  That means our elected officials in the House have likely never heard from constituents about why the smokefree law is so important.  While there are a handful of current State Senators who were Representatives in 2009, the fact that we need to mobilize to prevent the weakening of the law means that we have a lot of work to do educating lawmakers about why smokefree air is so valuable.

If you care about smokefree air - whether you’re a veteran advocate who helped our coalition pass the law almost ten years ago, or you’re a new volunteer who appreciates working, dining, or recreating in a smokefree environment - we need your help!

You’re invited to join advocates from across the state on Wednesday, March 21st in Lansing for the Michigan Campaign for Smokefree Air Lobby Day!  Click here to RSVP today!

Registration begins at 9:00 am in the Boji Tower in downtown Lansing across from the State Capitol.  We’ll kick off our education session at 10:00 am, enjoy lunch, then break to visit legislators.  We’ll then reconvene briefly before the event ends at 2:00 pm.

If you’re interested in attending, please be sure to RSVP by Monday, March 12th.
