Join us at the Iowa State Capitol!

Every year, 795,000 new and recurrent strokes occur in America – of which 137,000 are fatal. To help prevent this, it is important to address the whole system of care from prevention to rehabilitation. Minutes are critical when someone suffers a stroke. Every minute ages the brain 3.1 weeks; 10 hours ages the brain 36 years.

This is why stroke should be a reportable condition. We can then collect information to improve Iowa's system of care so all stroke patients get the care they need in the critical window of time, no matter where they live in the state of Iowa.
