We often discuss the important policy work happening in Utah on You’re The Cure, but it is often the science supported by American Heart Association that allows for the major breakthroughs needed to save lives. And as the second half of the summer lumbers onward, we look forward to an event in Utah that embodies the science, the community, and the opportunity for a heart healthy future that drives the mission of the American Heart Association. The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premier event for raising funds to save lives from this country's No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke.

On Saturday, September 23rd, Utahns from all backgrounds will join together to become a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Heart disease and stroke survivors are an important part of our Heart Walks. Each survivor receives a red ball cap and has the opportunity to gather with other survivors. We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way, and we must change that. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated means more research, more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more medical breakthroughs and more champions for equitable health. Between the policy work and scientific research of AHA, we’re well on our way to doing just that.
If you aren't able to join us at the Salt Lake City event we encourage you to go for a walk that morning where you live. Whether it's your neighborhood or your favorite park it's always nice to start your morning off with a heart healthy walk.
