Jefferson County GRFW Presents Check to AHA

The Go Red for Women of Jefferson County recently presented a check for $12,710 to the American Heart Association. This team of women began with purpose and a goal, to help women notice the signs and symptoms of heart disease and where to proceed from there.

Throughout the year, this team has hosted events to help raise awareness and money. Their 3rd Annual Rock The Red – Go Red For Women Celebrity Waiter Dinner was held on February 18th of this year and featured auction items donated by local businesses. The waiters who served the women throughout the night included several businessmen throughout the community.

The group has hosted several events including the Paint Your Heart Out event, Denim Day, Go Red for Women Celebrity Waiter Dinner and the Hearts of Fire Heart Walk.  

According to Brian Krannawitter, Government Relations Director for the American Heart Association, “I’ve gotten to know a lot of folks in the community and it’s just a great bunch of people. The Go Red Committee – who does a great job, the waiters – all great guys. I just can’t say enough how impressive the event is and all that you do. I do want to give a special recognition and a special thanks to Jill and Erin. First, Erin, for her passion and commitment to this event. I’ve gotten to know Erin a little bit over the past couple of years. I certainly enjoy her sense of humor as well, so thank you very much, Erin. And what can I say about Jill? I’ve known Jill about 14-15 years now. My wife and I were talking about Jill last night – and my wife also knows Jill and her husband. Jill is a mentor, to me, and a role model and someone I look up to. She’s just a great lady and I can’t say enough about her. If you want someone to pattern yourself after, I can’t think of anyone better than her.”
