It's hard to believe that fall is just around the corner and students are headed back to school!
We’ve spent the last few years educating communities, elected officials, and school administrators on the benefits of the Safe Routes to School program and as we continue our work we need your help and your stories!
Safe Routes to School helps build or improve bike paths, walkways, and streets to make sure they are safe from traffic dangers, so kids can walk and bike to school. We know that increasing the number of kids who can easily and safely walk or bike to school helps them develop healthy habits that continue throughout a lifetime.
We also know that not every child in Idaho has a safe route to school. We need to hear your stories. If your child or a child in your life has to cross a busy street to get to school we want to hear about it. If they have to walk to school on a road that has no sidewalks or other types of barriers between them and the cars on the road we want to hear about it. These stories will help us demonstrate to decision makers the need for funding for the Safe Routes to School program.
