Hello friends! I am Whitney Chamberlain, the Grassroots Director for five states out west. It’s my pleasure to provide advocates with opportunities to support the AHA’s public policy priorities in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. From sending action alerts to educating volunteers on top issues or preparing advocates for meetings with state legislators, I am here to help you fight heart disease and stroke through public policy.
Heart disease affected me personally last year when my dad went in to the hospital with chest pain and out the next week after a five-bypass heart surgery. That's my dad in the photo with me here. Because heart disease and high cholesterol run in my family, I try to live a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy running the trails or river pathway in my hometown of Sacramento, CA. My King Charles Cavalier reminds me to play every day before and after work. Fall is hands-down the best season to shop the local Farmers Market. Have you tasted butternut squash soup? You have to try it!
People who care about making environments healthier, free from cardiovascular disease and stroke, inspire me on a daily basis. Advocates like YOU make the You’re the Cure network a real vehicle for policy change. You can reach me anytime at [email protected] or 916-446-6505.
