Congress: Cosponsor the South Asian Heart Health Act

Heart disease impacts millions of Americans every year and is the leading cause of death in our country. But, did you know South Asians are 4 times as likely to have heart disease and have a 50% higher mortality rate than the general public?

I suspect you find these numbers as troubling as I do. Luckily, a bi-partisan group of 32 US Representatives have come together to promote the South Asian Heart Health Awareness and Research Act. This bill, also known as H.R. 3592, will save lives by educating South Asian communities on the dangers of heart disease, develop tools and conduct valuable research through the National Institutes for Health and the Centers for Disease Control. This research could be used to benefit all Americans regardless of ethnicity.

If you want this bill to be enacted into law, please urge your US Representatives to become a cosponsor.

Too frequently and too early in life, South Asians suffer from heart disease and related conditions. If we work together and encourage our Representatives to cosponsor H.R. 3592 we can make a difference In the lives of millions of Americans.
