Houston and Austin Go Red at City Hall

Every February, we make a big push to make communities more aware of heart disease and stroke and the ways they can live healthier lives. One of the ways we spread awareness is through official Proclamations at City Hall. In Austin, there was a Proclamation declaring February 2nd Wear Red Day. In Houston, February was honored as National Heart Month.

In Houston, Mayor Pro Tem Ellen Cohen sponsored the American Heart Month Proclamation. We were heartened to see so many Council Members wearing red in support!

In Austin, the proclamation was sponsored by Mayor Pro Tem Kathie Tovo, and we were joined in red by Council Members Pio Renteria, Alison Alter and Ora Houston, as well as Mayor Steve Adler. This year's Go Red for Women Chair, Virginia Visser, accepted the proclamation on the American Heart Association's behalf and gave remarks about living a heart-healthy life.
