The Administration has done an about face and is now supporting a Texas federal judge’s ruling that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is unconstitutional and should be scrapped entirely. Previously, the Justice Department, at the direction of the Trump Administration, had argued that only certain provisions that protect people with pre-existing conditions should be struck down, but that the rest of the law should stand.
We can’t let the ACA be repealed. Too many lives are at stake to go back to the time when patients could be denied health coverage based on things like age, gender or having a preexisting condition like heart disease.
While the American Heart Association is already fighting the judge’s decision in court, there is more we can do to help save the ACA and the millions of Americans who rely on it, by working with our members of Congress.
Thankfully, on March 26th the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions and Making Health Care More Affordable Act of 2019 was introduced. This bill goes a long way in preserving, stabilizing and strengthening the ACA while attempting to reduce the cost of healthcare and prevent the spread of substandard insurance plans.
Please take just 30 seconds and send this pre-filled, editable email to your U.S. Representative urging them to support the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions and Making Health Care More Affordable Act of 2019, which would strengthen and improve the ACA and benefit millions.
