As we continue our effort to help make the healthy choice the easy choice in Vermont, we wanted to let you know about some great opportunities to be fit and have fun!

Reel Fun!
Take advantage of the last few days of summer on a Vermont lake or pond. The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and Vermont State Parks are offering free loaner fishing gear, including rods & reels, lures, and water body info packets through the REEL FUN program!

Bike Smart

18 state parks provide fishing equipment kits to visitors on a loaner basis. Included in the kits are rods, reels, fishing line and an assortment of lures or baits that can be signed out by park visitors to provide instant access to the sport of fishing.

Each kit contains a guide that includes information about the water body, a lake or river map, a list of fish species present, fishing tips and techniques applicable to each waterway, as well as information about obtaining a Vermont fishing license. Bike Smart!
Or help students at your school enjoy an awesome bike program for free for two weeks including up to 40 bikes.

The first day of school is right around the corner, and your school might have the opportunity to enjoy Local Motion's Bike Smart Program trailer. Equipped with 40+ kids' bikes, helmets, and training supplies—everything you need to run a successful bike skills program at your school—Bike Smart is a valuable addition to any school's PE curriculum or healthy lifestyles initiative! The program is entirely free for schools with more than 50% of students eligible for free or reduced lunch, and for a nominal delivery fee for schools with less than 50% of students receiving free or reduced lunch.

How it works:
1) Request the trailer! This is a quick form, which should take at most 5-10 minutes.

2) If your school is chosen (this is highly likely, as they now have four trailers in their Bike Smart fleet, allowing Local Motion to serve over 60 schools in the 2018-2019 school year), they'll make sure you are trained in their curriculum (free, and flexible scheduling).

3) Local Motion will deliver the trailer to your school for 1-2 weeks, for you to use during PE, recess, after school, and on field trips--however works best for your school!

4) Once your school's loan is over, you'll send in the Participation Tracking form, and we'll retrieve the trailer! Simple! Here's the link to request the trailer. https://www.123formbuilder.com/form-3814214/

Have fun being fit!
