During the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals and families in communities across the country are relying on nonprofits of all sizes to address their most urgent needs. Nonprofits of all sizes measure success in terms of shared benefits, not shareholder profits so this isn’t about charities making money. This is about ensuring that Americans continue to have access to critical services and programs run by mid-to-large nonprofits when they need it most. Now, thanks to your collective voices the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced a bill that would do just that! The Help Charities Protect Communities Act, or (hold for bill number) would provide critical access to government funds for larger nonprofits at a time when they and the American public need them most.
The bill is a great first step, but it is not yet law and The American Heart Association and our nonprofit friends and partners need your help now. We need you to contact your Representative and urge them to cosponsor the Help Charities Protect Communities Act. At the same time, our system will automatically send a message to your Senators encouraging them to introduce the same bill. Simply enter your info once and send both messages simultaneously.
