Hello, Virginia!

In Virginia, the Closer to My Grocer coalition is working to create the Virginia Grocery Investment Fund, an initiative that will support grocery store development and fresh food access across the state.

The campaign is working with Honor Capital LLC, a group of post-9/11 veterans who are opening up grocery stores in low-access areas in Kansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, South Carolina, and now - Virginia! Honor Capital is working to provide communities with jobs and access to fresh food and is able to do so thanks to programs similar to the proposed Virginia Grocery Investment Fund. Staff from Honor Capital recently published an op-ed on their work in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

We are encouraging advocates to make sure their elected officials see the op-ed to learn about the Virginia Grocery Investment Fund and how it can accelerate fresh food access across Virginia!

To learn more about the campaign and to participate in activities, contact Allie Atkeson, Campaign Manager via email or 804-965-6531.  You can also check out a great video here that explains more about the campaign!  If you don't mind, take a moment and share this with your legislators - and add to your social media too!  We'd love to share our message as far and wide as our network reaches in Virginia.

Thank you for all you do, Virginia!
