My name is Jacob Denniston and I am very excited to be working with you and the American Heart Association. Along with Nebraska, I work with advocates in North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota. We are the heartland, in more than one way.

I am from Nebraska, born and raised. I graduated from UNL in 2016, Go Big Red, with degrees in Global Studies and Political Science. The last few years I have been working in grassroots campaign organizing and communications. I have worked on numerous political campaigns building infrastructure statewide to support organizing community volunteers and events. I have organized trainings and meetings from 2-500 people from Omaha to Chadron and everywhere in between.

I am beyond grateful and proud to join such an inspiring organization that has done so much for public health. The American Heart Association is what it is because of you, the astonishing advocates and volunteers that are a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

In my free time I like to; play volleyball, travel, try new restaurants, hike, or find new music to listen to. You will find me tweeting about Husker volleyball, a lot, my neighbors can attest to me making sure everyone is given the play by play during the games. One of my favorite stories about myself is where I left to audition for a Broadway Musical on 24 hours’ notice. Interesting fact about myself is that I am a very big band geek, I have played the trumpet since I was in 5th grade, and I was in the Cornhusker Marching band my entire college career.

Now that you know more about me, I want to get to know you. Over the next few months I will be reaching out to get to know you. But you can always, feel free to email me, if I can be of service.
