Heart Walks Raise Awareness; Achieve Goals

More than 700 volunteers, advocates and donors participated in the Rapid City and Pierre Heart Walks in September.  Beautiful, fall weather in both locations brought people from across western South Dakota together to support the efforts of the American Heart Association.  While dollars are still coming in, both events are well on their way to achieve their goal of over $100,000 raised to support research, advocacy, awareness and support for heart disease and stroke.  Kevin Phillips and Jim Ingersoll, and Ron Maki were honored with the Lifestyle Change Award at the Rapid City and Pierre walks, respectively.  Without the support of the many volunteers, advocates and donors to these events, we would not be able to continue our mission to advocate for policies that reduce the impact of heart disease and stroke on all South Dakotans.  Thank you to everyone who supported a Heart Walk this past year!
