We all knew that restaurant kids’ meals that meet national nutrition standards are healthy, but now they are “hot” too!
In an online survey of 1,298 members of the National Restaurant Association, healthful kids’ meals were rated #3 in a Top 20 list of food trends. That’s good news for our efforts to have restaurants in Vermont meet nutrition standards for kids’ meals!
The news keeps getting better and better. Two years ago, our survey of restaurants showed they could meet the nutrition standards without a burden. Last year, our survey showed 95% of Vermont parents were willing to pay more for healthy kids’ meals at restaurants. And now restaurants are recognizing healthy kids’ meals as a trend that consumers want. Let’s hope Vermont lawmakers recognize it’s a trend that will serve kids better in our state.
