Happy New Year Massachusetts

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you much health and happiness in 2013. I took a break to spend time with family and friends and I hope you did as well. Now I am back and ready to begin a new legislative session! I know that we will be facing many challenges in the next year, but I also believe that we have real opportunities to improve the cardiovascular health of Massachusetts residents. With your help we have made a lot of things possible, medical emergency response plans in schools, better school nutrition for our children, smoke-free bars and restaurants, AEDs in health clubs, hospitals at the ready for stroke patients, and a first in the nation access to care law that is both accessible and affordable. But, as you know, our work continues. In 2013 we are we are working on impactful legislation including, screening for critical congenital heart defects in newborns, teaching our students CPR before they graduate, providing quality physical education and activity in schools, improving our stroke system of care and increasing the tobacco tax.

What issues are you interested in? How will you let your legislators know what matters to you? Do you want to help with our advocacy?
