Happy Fall!

I don't know about you, but I am so excited for our new You're the Cure page!  I love how it combines many resources into one location.  You can take action, find factsheets and events and earn badges.  Are you as competitive as me?  I wonder who will have the highest badge in Ohio?

Also, we now have an even better ability to communicate through this site.  I hope over the coming months to provide more detail about the behind the scenes process in Ohio.  I'm also excited that we'll have guest bloggers from time to time.  It will be cool to hear other perspectives on heart healthy policy change.

Last week was a busy!  We are working hard to prepare for our Pulse Ox Advocacy Day in November.  If you haven't heard, Ohio needs to pass legislation to screen babies for congenital heart defects.  It is quick, simply and inexpensive.  Most importantly, it can save the lives of Ohio babies!  If you are interested in attending, visit http://yourethecuregra.blogspot.com/search/label/OhioEvents.  (We'll be moving event information to this site before our March 13th Advocacy Day!)

Also had the privilege to present at the Ohio Asthma Conference.  So many issues that impact heart disease and stroke also impact asthma - like tobacco prevention and cessation!  It was great to update the asthma advocates on this critical issue and how they can join the effort.

At the conference, an award was given to the Ohio Board of Regents and Chancellor Petro.  They passed a resolution in July urging all Ohio colleges and universities to be 100% tobacco free.  The award was in recognition of this work and their continued work with individual schools.  To see photos from the event, find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/yourethecureoh.

Happy Monday and Happy Fall!
