Greetings from Framingham, MA. My name is Rebecca Scharler and I am joining your advocacy team as your new Grassroots Manager. What does this mean to you? I will be helping you speak up when it comes to issues that matter the most to you and your community. I serve Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and New Jersey.
I was born and raised in the state shaped like a heart, Ohio. I graduated from Youngstown State University where I studied political science and accounting. Before joining AHA, I spent over a decade working in grassroots and volunteer development and management. Most recently, I worked for AFS, which is an intercultural exchange organization, helping the volunteers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland further the mission to make the world a more just and peaceful place through exchange.
In my free time, you will find me trying out new recipes and enjoying my time with my energetic son, George, and my rambunctious Frenchie, Stella. I keep active by earning splat points by going to regular Orangetheory Fitness classes. I am looking forward to the fall in New England, seeing the leaves turn and trying out things made with apple cider.
The AHA does so much to help people and communities be a relentless force for a world to live stronger and healthier lives, and I am excited to be a part of this amazing organization. I truly love working in grassroots and I look forward to getting to know you.
