Smoke-Free Atlanta Coalition Kicks off Local Events

For the past year, the American Heart Association has been working with local, state, and national members of the Smoke-Free Atlanta coalition to begin the process of passing a smoke-free ordinance in the city.

Recently, the coalition hosted a ‘Smoke-Free Night Out’ kickoff on May 31 at Fado Irish Pub in Midtown. The event was a great success and helped promote the positive impact that comprehensive smoke-free laws have on public health. As attendees entered the event, they were encouraged to sign a petition to the city council, share their stories by taking part in a video and discuss why they think this will be a good policy for the community and themselves as individuals. The next event will be held on June 28 at the Fado Buckhead location in Atlanta. If you'd like to join us, RSVP here.

The coalition will continue to plan events like these in the coming months with the intent of educating the public on the importance of passing a smoke-free ordinance in Atlanta that creates positive health outcomes for every citizen.

If you reside in Atlanta and would like to be engaged in the campaign, let us know.
