Right now, we’re monitoring state efforts to improve access to health care in Georgia. According to WABE.org, Governor Deal said, “My administration has to look at all of the possibilities, including Medicaid waivers. Those would give Georgia access to federal funds and flexibility in how the state would like to spend them.”

The article states that Georgia is one of 19 states that did not expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. If Georgia decides to expand Medicaid, the American Heart Association would support the state’s efforts because access to quality care is critical to living heathy lives.
