From City Hall: Update on the Votes for Two Key Tobacco Control Bills

I'm down in City Hall in the Speaker's Red Room (which isn't red by the way) waiting for the press briefing before our Council Stated Meeting begins.  Today, New York City will hopefully once again set the bar higher for our nation as we strengthen tobacco control in our city.  Whether it's restricting the sale of tobacco to New Yorkers younger than 21, or establishing a minimum price for the sale of cigarettes and banning the use of coupons or other discounts - City leaders are working to protest our most vulnerable population from the scourge of tobacco addiction. We've worked hard to make sure we have the necessary 26 votes on both bills. Let's hope it happens!
