Gov. DeSantis signs youth athletics safety bill

We are thrilled that Governor DeSantis approved House Bill 865 on Friday, March 22 to enhance the safety of young athletes across the state. Beginning July 1, 2024, athletic coaches in public schools will receive ongoing CPR and AED training.

Cardiac arrest can strike anytime, anywhere. Immediate CPR plus the use of an AED can double, or even triple, survival rates. For every minute without access to CPR and defibrillation, chances of surviving cardiac arrest decrease 7-10%. And without this intervention, death is certain. With this new law, athletic coaches in public schools across the state will be prepared take quick action should a student athlete collapse from cardiac arrest.

Thank Gov. DeSantis for signing this life-saving bill into law.

A big thank you to everyone who advocated with us in support of this life-saving policy! Your voice is making a positive impact in Florida.
