In a divided Senate, Dr. Califf was able to garner bipartisan support at the committee level and when the full United States Senate voted on the 15th. You’re the Cure advocates played an integral role in ensuring Dr. Califf was confirmed as our next FDA Commissioner. In the days and weeks leading up to the confirmation vote, YTC advocates made hundreds of phone calls in support of his nomination. That kind of action and high-level public engagement is hard to ignore in the Capitol and we appreciate all your efforts.

The position of FDA Commissioner is important to the health and well-being of the nation; and we are fortunate to have the steady hand of Dr. Robert Califf at the helm. To read more about Dr. Califf’s confirmation as well as a list of Heart Association priorities for the FDA please see our press statement from the 15th.

Thanks again to every YTC advocate who made their voices heard. You made a significant impact and thanks in large part to your efforts, the country has a proven, effective leader atop the FDA!
