Special thanks goes out to our local advocates who worked quickly to ensure this victory and HUGE thank you to Illinois Advocacy Committee Chair-Elect and Elk Grove Village resident, Scott Saxe for leading this important public health effort!
The ordinance will take effect on January 1, 2018. We will continue to work with municipalities across the state on similar policies as well as pursuing statewide Tobacco 21 legislation.
If you want to help your community raise the age to purchase tobacco to 21 years old, please send us a note and we can help you to begin the process! For more information on Tobacco 21 policies in Illinois please contact Carolyn Cerf at [email protected]
