The American Heart Association’s Oklahoma County’s ANCHOR Partnership Program along with the Oklahoma County Metro Library System are partnering to ensure all library county employees and visitors have access to healthier options in their snack and beverage vending machines.  The Metro Library System has recently placed healthy vending machines (Fresh and Healthy/H.U.M.A.N) in specific libraries throughout Oklahoma County. They are currently using the AHA recommend nutrition standards for vending machines.

The library would like support from the OK County ANCHOR Partnership Program to aid with resources and technical assistance with how to maintain the current vending machines that are stocked with healthier options as well as facilitating conversations with the other libraries that currently do not have healthy vending to educate on the rationale and benefits of providing healthier options in vending machines to both employees and visitors.

THE OK County ANCHOR Partnership Program will also be providing a plethora of educational and communication materials to the libraries that will aid in generating awareness about the initiative as well as garnishing support from employees and visitors.  There are currently 19 libraries in Oklahoma County.  The Metro Library System employs 550 employees that would benefits from having access to healthier options while they work, and over 750,000 county residents who frequent county libraries could benefits as well.
