Congrats! Ohio Pulse Oximetry Update

Yesterday, the Ohio House voted 93-0 in favor of substitute Senate Bill 4, the Newborn Pulse Oximetry Screening bill!  Ohio is now one step closer to screening all newborns for congenital heart defects!

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the outstanding leadership of Senator Gayle Manning and Senator Scott Oelslager.  Their leadership helped to move this legislation quickly through the process.  Ohio is now on the verge of joining more than a dozen other states who have passed similar legislation.

We are also indebted to our outstanding advocates.  Many were personally impacted by congenital heart defects.  Their willingness to share their personal stories put a face on the statistics and brought the issue to life!

Stay tuned for updates regarding the official bill signing.  In the meantime, work has already begun to finalize the needed rules to fully implement the legislation.

Thanks again to Senators Manning and Oelslager and all of the other co-sponsors, as well as to our great advocates!  All of your online messages, letters to the editor and personal testimony helped move this lifesaving legislation forward so quickly!
