Community Hearts Day in Bismarck

North Dakota AHA advocates and stakeholder partners descended upon Bismarck on February 13-14 for Community Hearts Day at the Capitol.  Advocates, volunteers and survivors participated in an advocacy training before heading to the Capitol to visit with their legislators.

The focus of our event was the great work being done across North Dakota with Cardiac Ready Communities and our Cardiac and Stroke Systems of Care.  Participants had several opportunities to share their stories and educate legislators on why these important systems are vital to saving lives from sudden cardiac arrest, STEMI and stroke.

A highlight of our time together was visiting with Governor Doug Burgum and sharing information about Cardiac Ready Communities and highlighting the work that’s been done and plans to expand the program to other North Dakota communities.
