In the month of June, You’re the Cure advocates volunteered to help with not just one, but two busy Heart Walks!

Colorado Springs Heart Walk
It was a beautiful sunny day in Colorado Springs for our annual Heart Walk on June 3rd. The Heart Walk was held at the Weidner Field home of the Switchbacks with the gorgeous Rocky Mountains in the background and was attended by about 2,900 people. Staff member Naomi Amaha Gollnick trained the advocacy volunteers and ran advocacy’s You’re the Cure booth, answering questions about our grassroots work and campaigns. Our advocacy volunteers canvassed the event to collect petition card signatures from Heart walk participants. The cards will be sent to the signer's representatives to support better quality P.E. in Colorado Schools.
We were fortunate to have six enthusiastic volunteers who helped us make it a successful event with more than 250 signed cards! Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who attended the event.
Denver Heart Walk
Saturday, June 10th, the Colorado advocacy team hosted a booth at the Denver Heart Walk at Mile High Stadium. The team of six volunteers and five staff collected 672 petition cards in support of CPR training in schools – setting a new record for number of petition cards collected at a Denver Heart Walk! In spite of the heat, volunteers were upbeat and ready to talk to participants about the importance of CPR training in schools.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped set the record!
