The four bills are:
-
Food Pantry Assistance Grant Program (HB20B-0034): This measure increases funding for grants to food pantries. With so many out of work due to the pandemic, it's more important now than ever that we look out for those in need. This critical funding measure will help ensure that Colorado families and kids don't go hungry this holiday season.
-
Grants to Improve Internet Access in Pre-K though 12th Grade Education (HB20B-0043): Internet access has become critical to our children's education while we all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. This measure will create a grant program for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students, and prioritize communities with the highest need.
-
Housing and Direct COVID Emergency Assistance (SB20B-0052): Housing this winter will be critical for those affected financially by the pandemic. This measure will provide emergency housing assistance for Coloradans who have experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19. It also provides legal representation for renters to help with eviction threats and other housing legal issues that occurred on or after March 1st, 2020 due to the financial strain of the pandemic.
- Money for Energy Utility Bill Payment Assistance (SB20B-0053): Winter is already here, and heating bills are coming due. This measure will provide direct utility bill payment assistance to low-income families, Coloradans who have been especially hard-hit by the pandemic.
We know it has been a tough year for many Coloradans, and we are especially grateful for advocates like you and your commitment to helping build a healthier Colorado. CLICK HERE to tell your legislators thank you for making sure we all stay warm, safe, and healthy this holiday season.
