Christine's Corner: December 2013 WV Advocacy Update

On behalf of the American Heart Association and our fantastic group of You're the Cure advocates, we hope you'll consider becoming a Field Representative for the West Virginia You’re the Cure Leadership Committee. The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association values the unique input and assistance that volunteer advocates provide that help shape crucial heart and stroke-related public policies and advance them through the legislative and regulatory processes at the federal, state and local levels.

Given the diverse make-up of West Virginia, both politically and geographically, and because bills can sometimes move very quickly, having a dedicated advocates in key districts across the state enables us to have a “go-to” person when a constituent is needed to communicate with their elected officials on a particular issue. That’s where you come in as a Field Representative – working alongside our staff to become the voice of AHA to educate elected officials about critical public policy issues that are important to you and the community! Elected officials will get to know you personally as the “face” of AHA/ASA.

If you’d like more information about becoming a member of our WV Advocacy Leadership Team, please email [email protected].
