We have great news to share! Our priority legislation to enhance enforcement of the flavored tobacco product ban law and our bill to ensure schools can respond to sudden cardiac arrests on campus passed their respective houses!

This was a special month for the AHA. We had our annual Heart at the Capitol event with over 100 participants! We lobbied on issues to improve heart health and had an incredible day of education and advocacy with volunteers, staff and students. Students from Galileo High School joined us once again and brought their unique stories and voices to the issues. We were also joined by Heather Freligh and her dad Derek to share her story of survivor from Cardiac Arrest back in September.
We were proud to honor four advocates with awards thanking them for their dedication to our mission.
Congratulations to:
Mr. Richard McDowell - Youth Advocate Empowerment Award
Ms. Beatrice Cardenas-Duncan - Health Equity Advocate Award
Dr. John Maa - Physician Advocate Award
Ms. Anne Wheelis - Distinguished Service Award
The success we kicked off this post with is thanks to these amazing advocates and the passion they shared on Lobby Day! Thank you to everyone who joined us!
