Bob Goodman, New Jersey

Bob Goodman was the picture of good health. His father died of a heart attack at the age of 57, when Bob was still a child. He knew that if he wanted to live a long, healthy life, it would be necessary to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Bob’s daily routine included plenty of physical activity, including participating in a number of marathons and half marathons.

However, several years ago Bob was diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis, and autoimmune disease that was affecting his heart. He underwent a heart transplant in November 2013.

As Bob was recovering, he decided that he wanted to use his experience to give back. He is an active advocate on the You’re the Cure network and Co-Chair of the Government Relations Advisory Board. He serves as an American Heart Association Survivor Ambassador, speaking at various events in and near his community. Bob shares his story with others to spread the message about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Bob was able to resume running and participated in his first ½ marathon since his transplant in September 2016.
