In light of the recent increase in popularity of these products, the state legislature knew something had to be done in order to preserve the spirit of the Clean Indoor Air Act and protect individuals from having to be exposed to the chemicals that electronic cigarettes contain.

Last year, the FDA finally took a look at what an e-cigarette contains and ruled that they are in fact tobacco products and should be regulated as such. Unfortunately, each state has the responsibility of regulating these products so a bill was introduced a few years ago to do just that. It has taken a lot of educating, grassroots advocacy, and lobbying appointments to ensure that legislators knew the full extent of how dangerous these products are but we finally did it! The bill will now go to the Governor's desk where it is expected to be signed into law!
