We had a fantastic time at the Austin Heart Walk this weekend! Over 25 volunteers, including several high school and college students, joined the advocacy team as we spoke with participants about the policies we're working to change to improve the health of Central Texans.
Thanks to the help of great volunteers and advocates, we were able to chat with hundreds of folks about our heart-healthy policies on Saturday.
Our volunteers chatted with participants about the importance of voting in the upcoming Travis County Transportation Bond election on November 7th which will help provide needed funding for safe and active transportation in Travis County. The bonds will make it easier to get around town by repairing and improving sidewalks and bike lanes. When kids can walk to school, parks, and playgrounds, they're more likely to be healthy and do better in school.
Do you live in Travis County? Early voting begun today, and you can vote anywhere you see a "Vote Here" sign. The Transportation Bond is Proposition A and B, and we're encouraging you to vote YES on both to improve sidewalks and bike lanes as well as parks and parks and recreation centers. Early voting ends November 3rd, and the last chance to vote is Election Day on November 7th.
Do you live in Dallas County? There's also a Transportation Bond on your ballot! You'll see Propositions A through J, and we're asking you to vote FOR all 10! Early vote is underway and continues through November 3rd, with Election Day November 7th. Here's a link to voting locations.
Thanks to all of our volunteers for their help at the heart walk, and thanks for being a voter!
