As Mayor de Blasio prepares to release his preliminary budget for the coming year, we're asking him to ensure every family has access to the foods that help support a balanced diet and a healthier life.

Eating healthy and being physically active help prevent diabetes and heart disease. But without access to healthy food, a nutritious diet and good health is out of reach.

We're advocating for these key programs in the Fiscal Year 2019 budget:

  • $15 million to expand the Health Bucks program so that more New Yorkers can afford fresh fruits and vegetables;
  • $10 million to create a Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) to help local grocers to open, expand, and improve grocery stores in neighborhoods that need food and jobs the most; and
  • $3 million to expand healthy corner store initiatives so that existing corner stores can offer healthier food options to their customers.

Join us to send a message to Mayor de Blasio asking him to increase access to healthy food and grow the economy.
