Committee Approves Free School Lunch for More Arkansas Students

Today, Senate Bill 477 was passed by the Senate Education Committee, moving us one step closer to helping make sure more students in Arkansas won’t go hungry during the school day. SB 477 would allow students who currently qualify for reduced lunches to receive those meals at no cost.

The bill still needs to make its way through the Senate floor vote and House, but we had to take a moment to celebrate this victory in committee.

Thank you to AHA advocate Cori Keller who testified to the committee today and shared, "Any opportunity you have to ensure that Arkansas students are nourished and excel in the classroom is an opportunity worthwhile. We are feeding the future of Arkansas and I encourage you to support and vote yes for the next generation of Arkansans".
