Alabama Moves Forward with Healthy Food Financing Programs

The Healthy Food Financing Initiatives Legislative Committee met on Thursday, December 9, to discuss next steps on funding for programs to help grocery stores sell healthy foods in Alabama.

Community Development Financial Institutions throughout the south spoke about how the program should work in Alabama to truly host a public private partnership. upcoming weeks. The commission decided to request $1.35 million from the next fiscal year budget.

The commission will submit a proposal to the state by the end of January with recommendations regarding the Healthy Food Financing program in Alabama.
