Washington was alive and fluent with advocacy on April 8th and 9th. On Monday it was phenomenal to be actively promoting funding for Medical Research on the hill. Red hearts filled the crowds as AHA joined with numerous other groups to support funding for medical research. I was so excited to be a part of this group.—WOW! Tuesday was also another awesome day. The legislator’s assistants really cared about our requests we made during our meetings in their offices. National Institute Health funding was a high priority for Delaware’s law makers. Not surprisingly, the Million Hearts Initiative was a hot topic and Jonathan and I expounded on the devastating effects of hypertension. We left all of the offices with the caring words “Know your numbers”. As a Delawarean constituent and health care provider “What an opportunity to be part of the CURE ON THE HILL”.
