What brought you to be an advocate for the American Heart Association?
Stroke care is my passion. My desire to be a part of post stroke care.
What issues or policies are you most passionate about and why?
The lack of quality stroke doctors. We shouldn’t have to travel 100’s of miles for treatment. The first hospital I was taken to when I had my stroke said, “beyond our capability”.
What is your favorite advocacy memory or experience so far and what made it great?
When I was asked to take part in a television interview for “Stroke awareness”. I was able to educate people about strokes.
What is your favorite way to be active?
Direct communication with post stroke patience.
What is your favorite fruit or vegetable and any tips for how you serve or prepare it?
Apples, in the form of apple pie. Substitute some of the sugar with Honey. Make sure you use plenty of cinnamon.
