What brought you to be an advocate for the American Heart Association?

My daughter and I share a common goal in that we want everyone to stay active and healthy. I also lot my father to heart disease and wanted to make sure people knew how to take care of themselves and why.

What issues or policies are you most passionate about?

Healthy eating and Healthy choices for children
Heart Disease

What is your favorite advocacy memory or experience so far and what made it great?

Reagan, my daughter, and I love traveling to DC to visit with our congress men and women. It was an opportunity for us to tell our story and make it personal. It helps to have real stories from real people.

What is your favorite way to be active?

I work on our farm which is very active, but we as a family also love to hunt, fish, hike and just take walks. The outdoors is a great place to relax and disconnect from the work world and all the electronics.

What is your favorite fruit or vegetable and any tips for how you serve or prepare it?

We love sweet potatoes in our house. We just take them and cut them up like fries spray with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook them for about 45 mins. They are great with any meal.
