What brought you to be an advocate for the American Heart Association?

A few years ago, I was very active with STEMI Mission Life Line and helped roll out guidelines across the state.  Once that was completed, my hospital (Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk), set a goal to teach all 7th and 12th graders in our service area Hands Only CPR.  This year, we continued teaching our area business Hands Only CPR and added Pulse Point to our community!  I joined the Advocacy Team because I love connecting the dots between real people and real resources that make a difference for our health, happiness, and safety.

What issues or policies are you most passionate about and why?

I am passionate about the issues that help connect people to helpful resources and also for policies that clarify/standardize systems of care so that it actually works.

What is your favorite way to be active?

I am a walker!

What is your favorite fruit or vegetable and any tips for how you serve or prepare it?

I would say my favorite fruit is watermelon and my favorite vegetable combo would be squash and zucchini with garlic butter, on the grill.
