What brought you to be an advocate for the American Heart Association?

Working for the American Heart Association has such a big advantage. Working with individuals with such great minds and an enormous amount of compassion for what they do I have learned so much about cardiovascular disease and what we can do to advocate for laws to help make that possible.

What issues or policies are you most passionate about and why?

Physical education, CPR in schools, clean air, Furthering access to Stroke telemedicine and Sugary drinks. It's hard to just choose one or two because all are so very important for us to live our very best life.

What is your favorite advocacy memory or experience so far and what made it great?

Participating in the campaign to get the Sugar Sweetened Beverage tax passed by the Cook County Board. Also sitting in on the actual board meeting as the proceedings took place. How rewarding to have this passed at the urging of our own You're the Cure staff leaders.

What is your favorite way to be active?

I love walking outside. It's wonderful to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy nature while exercising.

What is your favorite fruit or vegetable?
I don't know if I have a favorite but I'll go with pineapple, cabbage and "kale salad"
