Your story can help.
On March 23rd 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. This bill, often shortened to the Affordable Care Act or ACA represented a significant overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system and the largest expansion of medical coverage to uninsured individuals in nearly 50 years. The American Heart Association continues to support the ACA because of its significant positive impact on the CVD population.
Unfortunately, the ACA is under attack and is the subject a Supreme Court case that could result in millions of Americans losing access to quality health care coverage when they need it most, in the midst of a global pandemic. That's why we're looking to connect with advocates who have benefited from the Affordable Care Act. If you have, we'd love to hear your story if you meet one of the criteria below:
- You are someone with a preexisting heart condition who is insured through the ACA.
- You are insured through the ACA with any preexisting conditions, or who has dependents with a preexisting condition.
- You would struggle to get health insurance if you lost their job, because of a heart condition or other type of preexisting condition.
